Description
This extraordinary vessel, built in 1995 in San Diego USA, is one of the world’s very first Mega Yacht logistical support vessels. The term “shadow boat” has subsequently become the recognized term for this type of vessel. Her owner wanted a yacht that was versatile and could fulfill many roles, which was a key element in the design brief. The primary role is to support the Owner’s main yacht. Accommodation for up to 20 staff members, a house for a diversity of water toys, speed boats, tenders and enough storage space to remain at sea for weeks.
The GOLDEN SHADOW can be easily converted into a stand-alone research boat. She is equipped with enough technical facilities to mount scientific surveys deep into unfrequented, unexplored waters. Likewise, with a reallocation of space, she could be a breath-taking private luxury yacht. Contact us to discuss concept and development.
One of her most important features is the stern elevator platform, which has the capacity to lift up to 10 tons and is used to launch and recover tenders, dive boats or seaplane. It can also be used as a helicopter landing platform. The platform can also be used as a swimming platform but is invaluable for scuba diving access and recovery during rough seas. To ensure the safety of visiting divers, the ship is equipped with a recompression chamber which is capable of accommodating one patient and one medic.
In 2015 she completed a five year around the world mission, surveying coral reefs and ocean habitats across the Pacific and Indian Oceans. She is an ideal platform for this, as she can carry and handle many different sized configured boats and equipment and has a large diving and underwater operations facility onboard.
Note: this boat is offered in cooperation with a co-broker.
