The primary reason that people are increasingly buying a ship and having it converted into a yacht is because we start with a solid steel, fuel-efficient hull design and commercial-grade systems and build yacht-finish superstructure, amenities and fixtures on that foundation. The result is a rugged, continuous-duty ship, repurposed as a luxury yacht, rather than a yacht simply masquerading as an expedition vessel.

Some foundation or ‘donor’ vessels have ice-class hulls and most have a range of 5,000 to 15,000 miles.
